Pocklington Ladies were hosts to Wintringham on Saturday in a game described by the visiting umpire as 'one of the best, most sporting matches' he'd umpired this season.
The game began with Wintringham taking control and using the width of the pitch to their advantage. Pock fought back with some solid defensive work with clearances from both Louise and Gemma at the back, although the team struggled to move the ball f
orward successfully.

Opportunities came for both sides towards the end of the first half once the pace had picked up, but neither could put a goal home.

The pace stayed lively in the second half with both sides using quick, short balls effectively. Pock's communication vastly improved and enabled the forwards to connect creating chances in the Wintringham goal mouth. Unfortunately three penalty corners were wasted when each one was cleared after numerous strikes, flicks and pushes at the goalie.

Wintringham took control again towards the middle of the half and scored a well-deserved goal. They followed this up just 10 minutes later with their second to double their lead.

Pock were determined to score and to their credit were working hard until the last seconds.

A penalty corner was awarded just moments before the final whistle but the forwards just couldn't connect and disappointedly remained goaless at full time.
