Melbourne CC were due to meet Bielby in the Canon Hedley semi final but due to heavy rain this fixture did not take place. The rearranged match will take place on Thursday night at Bubwith - 6.30pm start. The final takes place the following night at Wilberfoss.
In their York Vale League match against Malton & Old Malton, Melbourne batted first and it was left to the ‘more experienced’ player of the team to score the runs with Malcolm Harrison sticking it out for 30 overs before being stumped when on 46.
The younger members of the team did not seem to be able to be able to connect bat with ball and only Matt Beevers (13) and newcomer Melbourne Arms landlord Tim Burn (17) made it into double figures.

Melbourne finished on 120 off 36 overs. Eleven year old Brett Crowe took 4 for 18, A Selby 2 for 13, A Thompson 2 for 29.

In reply Malton, who may have been fazed by the fact it was HPH Vale League Cash for Runs Day (10p from every run scored to charity) , struggled from the start and with the Melbourne bowlers on fine form and pairs of catches for Andy Room and Matt Beevers only Thompson going in at number 10 made double figures.

Malton were dismissed for 36, Harrison taking 7 wickets for 15 runs and Kidd 3 wickets for 12 runs.

o Many thanks to the local sponsors who also added to the total sent to the Guardian Angels Appeal at York District Hospital.
