A TRUMPETER is wanted to help with a reunion of war heroes in Pocklington next weekend.
The remaining members of the 102 Squadron are gearing up for their annual visit on 19 and 20 July.

The squadron was based at Pocklington Airfield during the Second World War, flying bombing missions directly over Nazi Germany.

The former servicemen have visited the town every year for more than two decades to reminisce, swap stories and pay their respects to fallen comrades.

Numbers have obviously dwindled over the years and despite many of the ageing airmen suffering from ill health, they are still determined to head for the region.

As part of their visit, they include a short commemorative service at the Gliding Club on the Sunday morning.

They are appealing for a trumpet player who can sound the last post and reveille.

Needed from 10.30am until 11.30am, out-of-pocket expenses will be covered.

Anyone willing to help is being asked to contact Pocklington Town council office on (01759) 304851.
