POCKLINGTON'S top police officer has said a campaign to stop mischievous youngsters in the run-up to Bonfire Night has proved a success.
Sergeant Pete Rogers said that extra patrols ensured a minimum amount of trouble while shopkeepers followed guidelines over selling eggs and flour to youngsters.

No fewer than nine officers, PCSOs and special constables were on the streets on Tuesday to help combat the Mischief Night antics.

As a result of the crackdown, 30 stop checks were made on Tuesday evening with only one incident of nuisance behaviour reported.

In total, only a handful were dealt with by police in recent weeks, including one incident in Market Weighton in which an £80 fixed penalty notice was handed out for disorder.
