ELEVENTH HOUR ...
Pocklington came to a
standstill on Tuesday as a ceremony marked Armistice Day.
Members of the Royal British Legion gathered at the war memorial on Market Street to pay their respects. At 11am, a two-minute silence was observed, marking the time - at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the
11th month - when the Armistice Treaty came into effect to end the First World War.

Shopworkers stood out on Pocklington's streets while passers by stood silent for the silence. Named The Great War, World War One raged
between 1914 and 1918.
