A GROUP of girls are looking to capitalise on improvements to a Pocklington playpark by helping to keep it clean and tidy.
The four 11-year-olds are planning a summer of hard work to keep the Victoria Road site up to scratch as part of the annual Lifestyle Challenge.

Calling themselves Fruiti Tutti, they are looking to keep the park litter free, and are hoping to persuade local firms to donate shrubs to help make it more attractive.

Their efforts will follow the grand re-opening of the park which is undergoing a £43,000 makeover and will include brand-new play equipment.

The money was raised by Pocklington Play Area Group, a locally formed committee which raised the capital through fundraisers and grants.

Work has been going on for a number of weeks and is expected to be completed next week, when Fruiti Tutti will begin work.

Dawn Stone, mother of one of the girls, said: "They are all very keen and met with the committee, which made them feel very special and important!

"They're all good friends and it was their suggestion so they can't wait for it to open and they can get going."
