Students to get free personal attack alarms
Officers from Humberside Police will be handing out 200 “drink aware” packs to new students at Bishop Burton College on Thursday.
The packs also contain sweets bearing personal safety messages, anti-drink spiking stoppers, an alcohol unit calculator glass, an alcohol unit calorie counter, a pen and a lollipop.

“Sometimes students don’t realise the dangers they can put themselves in, especially when they’ve had a drink.
“Awareness of these issues is our key priority. We think this Drink Aware pack offers information and useful gadgets such as the ‘spikey’ stoppers which we hope they will use whenever they are on a night out.”
Officers will also be visiting halls of residence across the East Riding to give out property marking pens and leaflets for a national property record website.
